This weekend, Lake Lanier delivered one of those unforgettable evenings as colorful hot air balloons filled the sky during the 2026 Hot Air Balloon Festival at Lanier Islands.

Absolutely spectacular. 🌅

🎈 The Hot Air Balloon Festival Comes to Lake Lanier for the first time!

Held September 18–19, 2026, the festival brought two evenings of colorful balloons and family fun to Lanier Islands.

The festivities included hot air balloons, tethered rides when weather permitted, food and craft vendors, entertainment and activities for the kids.

After sunset, the balloons illuminated the shoreline with a beautiful balloon glow, coordinated burner blasts and a laser light show.

Even better, a portion of the festival proceeds benefited local special-needs initiatives and the Georgia Mountain Food Bank.
